The LED lighting in paddle tennis courts according to NIDE standards, will be uniform and in such a way that it does not hinder the vision of the players, the refereeing team or the spectators. Padel is a high speed sport. Lighting levels and the direction of light on the balls and on the players are critical. In flight, the ball may be temporarily out of sight due to glare from light sources or a low-contrast background. Proper pole placement and orientation are essential for good visibility.
The lighting must comply with the UNE-EN 12193 standard “Lighting of sports facilities” and will have the following levels:
FOR OUTDOORS | horizontal lighting | Uniformity | Lighting class |
MINIMUM LIGHTING LEVELS | E med (lux) | E min/E med | – |
International and national competitions | 500 | 0,7 | Class I
|

Local competitions, training, school and recreational use | 200 | 0,5 | Class III |

Advantages of LED lighting in paddle tennis courts
No luminaire should be placed in the area of the ceiling that is located on the surface of the track to avoid dazzling. For color TV broadcasts and film recording, a vertical luminance level of at least 1000 lux is required, however this value may increase with the distance from the camera to the object. For more information, the cited standard should be consulted.
