What use will the field have?
The starting point is to know what the track will be used for: recreational? training? competition?
Each level requires different lighting requirements. In the table below, you will find classes I, II, and III with their recommended levels of illuminance and uniformity.
Class II: ideal for regional tournaments and high-level training.
Class III: sufficient for recreational use or schools.
Arrangement of luminaires and structurea
A typical outdoor track facility includes:
- 4 posts placed in the outer corners, outside the playing area.
- Recommended height: 6 m, as indicated in the solution included in the table.
- 8 LED lights (2 per pole) for symmetrical coverage and no shadows.
Simulated luminous performance
This simulation shows how light is distributed in an outdoor paddle court equipped with 8 LED fixtures of 150 W.
A mean illuminance of 358 lx is achieved, with excellent uniformity (Emín/Eavg of 0.92), ensuring visibility without shadows or glare.

To ensure optimal visibility during regional competitions or demanding training sessions, it is recommended to achieve the following values of horizontal illuminance.
