Pere Virgili Hospital

Light plays an essential role in hospital environments: it accompanies, guides, and conveys calm. At the Pere Virgili Hospital, the challenge was to renew the exterior lighting while respecting the identity of the space and, at the same time, improving visual comfort, energy efficiency, and the safety of the pathways.

Located in the Gràcia district, the Pere Virgili Health Park is one of the largest and most active socio-healthcare complexes in Catalonia, covering more than 50,000 m², of which nearly half are green areas. The lighting project encompassed the entire exterior environment of the facility, replacing conventional fixtures with a next-generation LED solution.

Lighting solution: AURA

For this renovation, LUXES implemented the AURA luminaire, a hybrid system that combines contemporary design and efficient technology. Its sober and enveloping geometry harmoniously integrates with the hospital's architecture, providing warm, uniform, and functional light.

The high-strength polycarbonate sphere, deformable and resistant to UV rays, ensures excellent durability against adverse weather conditions. Additionally, its built-in solar collector allows for significant energy savings and reduces environmental impact.

The installation was carried out using a quick connection system, without the need to modify the existing electrical infrastructure, which facilitated a swift and efficient replacement.

Sustainable and responsible design

One of the main objectives of the project was to minimize light pollution. Therefore, AURA was the chosen luminaire for its ability to direct the light flow in a controlled manner, avoiding glare and respecting the natural environment of the park.

Likewise, the system incorporates a power reduction schedule by time slots, optimizing energy consumption and adapting the light intensity to the actual needs of the environment.

A space that illuminates well-being

Beyond its technical function, the new lighting at the Pere Virgili Hospital is part of the care experience: it welcomes, guides the steps of patients and visitors, and creates a sense of tranquility and safety from the very first visual contact.

A project in which light aligns with the values of the healthcare center —durability, sustainability, and well-being— transforming the hospital environment into a more human, efficient, and welcoming space.
