Muerde la Pasta, Gijón

Muerde la Pasta, the well-known Italian restaurant chain, has opened a new venue at Los Fresnos Shopping Centre in Gijón. This restaurant represents a turning point for the brand, as it is the first location to showcase Muerde la Pasta’s new brand image.
Located in the entertainment and dining area of the shopping center, the new space features 800 m² of surface area, a capacity for 282 diners, and a complete buffet of 26 linear meters. Additionally, it includes Pasta Park and a terrace, designed to provide a comfortable and fun dining experience for everyone.
This renovation, regarded by the company itself as the most significant since the founding of Muerde la Pasta, preserves the Italian essence that has always defined the brand while incorporating a more contemporary image, aligned with the digital evolution of recent years.
The key element of the new restaurant design
In this new restaurant, Luxes has played an active role in the project, specifically in the lighting design of the space. The company provided the luminaires, technical consultancy and a professional lighting study, enabling the creation of a welcoming, functional environment fully aligned with Muerde la Pasta’s new brand image.
Lighting in restaurants has a direct impact on how the food, the space and the brand are perceived. Well-designed lighting can make a restaurant feel more welcoming, modern and appealing, while poor lighting can negatively affect the overall customer experience.
Lighting designed for enjoying more time
As can be seen in the images of the lighting project, the design of the luminaires and their lighting connect with the colors and environments of the surroundings, helping to visually organize the restaurant. The buffet areas, such as Il Forno, feature linear and more direct lighting; the goal is clear: to uniformly illuminate the food and enhance the perception of the product.
On the other hand, in the table and main dining areas, Luxes opted for warmer and more inviting lighting. Choosing pendant lights in the shape of bells, aiming to create a comfortable atmosphere, seeking to enjoy and extend the experience.
Finally, the lighting in the kitchen was one of the challenges for Luxes. Since it is an open kitchen, visible to customers, the light needed to be not only functional for the team but also to convey an image of order, cleanliness, and professionalism.
In this case, Luxes opted for powerful, uniform, and well-distributed lighting, specifically designed to enhance visibility, reduce errors, increase personnel safety, and prevent visual fatigue.
A collaboration that is seen and felt
Another key value contributed by Luxes was the execution of a comprehensive lighting study and the development of lighting renders, which made it possible to anticipate how the light would perform in the real space and ensure optimal illumination levels throughout the entire venue.
This process ensures consistency with the new brand image of Muerde la Pasta and avoids improvisations on site, which is essential in modern restaurant lighting projects.
This project is a clear example of how Luxes specializes in creating customized lighting solutions for the restaurant sector. Its ability to combine design, technique, and regulations turns lighting into a strategic element, capable of transforming spaces and enhancing the customer experience.
The collaboration between Luxes and Muerde la Pasta demonstrates that good lighting is not only seen, but also felt.
