The lighting installation developed by Luxes in the MRI room of the Trueta Hospital was designed to ensure maximum safety in hospital environments, achieve better energy efficiency, and enhance the patient experience using dynamic lighting.

Electromagnetic compatibility: an essential requirement in hospital lighting

The lighting installation in a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) room represents one of the greatest challenges within the hospital environment. The intense magnetic fields produced by medical imaging equipment require that all elements in its vicinity be free of ferromagnetic materials and not interfere with the system's operation.

To achieve this, Luxes developed a lighting system designed for areas with high electromagnetic sensitivity, using non-ferromagnetic components and low electromagnetic emission LED technology. The main objective was to ensure total compatibility with the resonance equipment.

Lighting that accompanies the medical process

In the images, it can be observed how the color temperature varies between warm, neutral, and cool tones, creating different atmospheres depending on the moment of the procedure. This dynamic lighting allows the environment to adapt to the patient's state, providing a sense of calm during the preparation and exploration phases.

The use of indirect light and perimeter LED lines —noticeable at the upper edges of the room— prevents reflections on the metallic surfaces of the equipment and creates an immersive, uniform, and pleasant lighting.

High-performance, low-consumption LED luminaires, ensuring a constant light level with minimal thermal emission and a long lifespan.

The system was designed under energy efficiency criteria, incorporating DALI control drivers that allow for precise intensity control and reduce electrical consumption based on occupancy and usage needs.
